Our Story
SGM Scott Mayer began operating heavy equipment for the Army National Guard and learned how to build roads, dams, and airstrips on a very large scale. We apply those earthmoving principles today on a much smaller scale with the same high standards. Combine his mother’s gardening influence at an early age, his training and talent, along with Mayer’s own appreciation for outdoor living and gardening spaces, and in 2007 Horizontal Earthworks was launched.
Our Team
Our team is a mix of talented and driven individuals, with a shared appreciation for hard work and attention to detail. Over half of our employees also have military backgrounds, which brings a unique level of discipline, focus, and teamwork to every project. The rest of our team are college students pursuing degrees in engineering or business, eager to gain real-world experience and learn the hands-on side of the business. Together, they make Horizontal Earthworks a team you can trust to deliver quality results, every time.
