Our Story
Owner Scott Mayer began his career operating heavy equipment in a Combat Heavy Engineer Battalion with the Army National Guard constructing earth roads, dams, and airstrips throughout multiple countries in the Middle East, Central America, and United States. Rising to the rank of Sergeant Major, the majority of his career was spent overseeing both horizontal and vertical engineering operations—an experience that ultimately inspired the name “Horizontal Earthworks.” In 2007, Scott set out to bring that same level of precision, discipline, and large-scale expertise into the local community, applying proven earthmoving principles to projects of all sizes. Influenced early on by his mother’s love for gardening and shaped by his own appreciation for outdoor living, Scott built a company that blends technical skill with a creative eye—transforming landscapes into functional, lasting spaces.
